"Exploring the Legacy: Unraveling the History of Nalanda University"

 According to Xuanzang,

a Chinese scholar: Nalanda had a very tough entrance examination. Only about 20 percent of the students who applied got through. Foreign students had the hardest time in passing the admission test unless they were ‘deeply versed in old and modern learning’.

Xuanzang, who studied there for 5 years, took up Yoga Shastra under the highest authority of the time Silabhadra. He also studied Nyaya, Hetuvidya, Shabdavidya & the Sanskrit grammar of Panini. Vedas,Vedanta, Puranas, Dharmashastras, Jyotisha & Chikitsashatra were all taught there Nalanda also had a department of Tibetan studies in which many Indian scholars learned Tibetan and translated Sanskrit works into Tibetan. Yijing Monk mentioned 56 students from China, Japan & Korea who studied in Nalanda in the interim period of 40 years between Xuanzang’s visit He also noted the presence of more than 1,000 scholars in 1 city in Indonesia where they studied all the subjects that were taught in India

Dharmasvamin who lived in Nalanda mentioned that Nalanda was destroyed by MUSLIMS (Turushkas) .

Not just this, Mahabodhi temple of Buddhists were also attacked by the Mslms. Mslms soldiers damaged the Murti and they took out emeralds from the eye sockets of the Murti.

When the "turkish invaders" were ravaging, Dharmasvamin saved octogenarian monk by carrying him on his shoulder to safe place near Nalanda. Other Tibetan monk returned to Nepal.

Dharmawamin also mentioned that people used to live in dread because of the constant fear of Mslms. They were always in fear that Mslms could attack at any time. Bodh Gaya was deserted, old idols were despoiled, and Dharmawamin himself had to flee away for 17 days. Viraha of Odantapuri was ransacked too.

The Octogenarian monk is Rahulasribhadra, who earlier decided to stay but denied fleeing with other monks. Dharmasvamin also decided to stay with his guru. Eventually, they had no option; Dharmasvamin had to carry his guru on his shoulder to take refuge. This is how they survived; otherwise, they would have been klled.

Marxist Historians like D.N Jha, Chandra Das, tried to blame "Brahmins or Hindu fanatics or beggar" for destruction of Nalanda. They used book written "FIVE HUNDRED YEARS" AFTER destruction of Nalanda. While they completely ignored the contemporary source Tabakat-i-Nasiri . Can you imagine according to translation done by S.C Das, "2 beggar" destroyed whole Nalanda, and other shrines.

Jha used a miracle story to whitewash the crimes of MSL invaders, and the miracle story is that "two non-Buddhist beggars" sat down in a deep pit for 12 years in Sidhi. And after achieving Sidhi, they threw fire rain on the structure. According to Marxist historians, miracle stories are actual history!

I forgot to mention that: Many scholars from China first visited Indonesia, where they spent some years learning Sanskrit and other subjects in order to gain enough competency to seek admission in famous Indian universities. In modern terms, Indonesia was like the Allen Institute for people to learn and prepare themselves to compete for admission in Nalanda.
