"Secularism vs. Sectarianism: Nehru, RSS, and the Politics of Muslim Appeasement in India"

Since 1947 Jawahar Lal Nehru started a marathon of letter writing to then Chief Ministers of states of India. He wanted to share his compulsions and reasoning behind his decision making both as a prime minister and as a politician. But these letters were a stark reminder that softly message was conveyed to all: IT IS MY WAY OR HIGHWAY!! Let's go through these letters to understand the perils Nehruvian legacy created for future generations under the garb of Socialism, Secularism, minority protection and appeasement!!

1. Letter dated 15th October 1947

Due to increasing r4ancor against Nehru outside and within Congress, Nehru wrote that rumors of his Muslim appeasement are false. As per him India has such a large Muslim minority that if they want to go to some other place/ country, it is impossible for them. Truth: On 10 October 1946, in Noakhali, East Bengal (present-day Bangladesh), Bengali Hindus preparing to worship Goddess Lakshmi were subjected to brutal violence by Islamists. Waves of attackers targeted the numerically weaker Hindus, resulting in the massacre of approximately 5,000, with many more forcibly converted to Islam through methods such as making them eat beef and recite the kalma. The attacks included the rape of Hindu women, often in front of their families, and the destruction of Hindu places of worship. Despite the intense and premeditated nature of the violence, historical accounts often refer to these events as ‘riots’ rather than acknowledging them as genocide. The complicity of the Muslim League administration, British authorities, and Mahatma Gandhi’s failure to prevent the genocide were the hallmark of this tragedy. When Hindus started retaliating to this Muslim debauchery, Nehru ordered a warning to Hindus on 4th Nov 1946 as interim PM. When Hindu retaliation did not stop, on 8th Nov 1946 Nehru ordered police to fire on protesting Hindus resulting in the deaths of 400-1000 Hindus in Nagarnausa, Bihar. And how the self-appointed global statesman and messiah of secularism Nehru reacted to this officially sanctioned massacre of Hindus!! In a letter to Sarojini Naidu’s sister and his alleged lover, Padmaja Naidu, Nehru said he was “relieved” over the murder of 400 Hindus. Shockingly Nehru's letter to Bihar CM Sri Krishna Sinha on Nov. 19 reveals him COVERING UP his role in massacring Hindus. He says 250 Hindu casualties was not a big figure "considering everything" & even instructs Sinha how to word an official fake alibi to save Nehru. (x.com/MumukshuSavitr)

2. Letter dated 15th November 1947

When riots broke out due to partition in the border regions of India and newly created Pakistan, Nehru blamed RSS, Akali Dal and Muslim league for the same while totally forgetting that he was solely responsible for the partition of the Akhand Bharat due to his greed for power.

3. Letter Dated Jan 1948

Nehru openly lauds Sheikh Abdulla and his Kashmir National Movement for establishing communal harmony in Kashmir. While he openly blamed RSS for instigating Hindu Muslim divide. While Nehru openly chastised Hindus in Bihar and Bengal for standing up against the tyrannies of Muslims, he paid glowing tributes to his dear friend Sheikh Abdulla. Nehru carefully instructed govt machinery to create proofs against RSS and after that he banned RSS as a political communal violent organization ban lasted for 1 year.

4. Letter Dated Feb 1948

For Nehru Gandhi's idea of Muslim appeasement was the only perfect solution and 4,50,000 Hindu refuges languishing on roads of Delhi were a precarious problem. Gandhi's advice to Hindus: If a Muslim wants to kill a Hindu or wants to rape a Hindu woman, they shall not protest and holding the principal of Ahinsa they shall die in the hands of Muslims to ensure that communal harmony exists even if Hindus have to die!! Earlier Nehru had openly stated: India will never be a Hindu state during his lifetime!!

5. Letters dated August and Dec 1948

Nehru simply gave up that Hindus still living in Pakistan and Bangladesh are problems of respective govt. of Pakistan and went ahead with Liaqat pact.

6. Letter dated Feb 1950

Nehru openly criticized RSS and Akali for their idea of reuniting all the splintered parts of India to create Akhand Bharat!! He forgot the horrors inflicted by Muslims on Hindu populace of Kolkata and he was more worried that Muslim mosques and houses are damaged in these riots. He further wrote that he sincerely hoped that these Muslims would return to their homes very very soon..!!!

7. Letter dated March 1950

Nehru again wrote that if partition ends and communal passions still remains on both sides of the newly formed border, it will be far worse than partition itself. So, all the talks of "Akhand Bharat" by Hindu Mahasabha and RSS must be stopped immediately...!!

8. Letter dated July 1950

Nehru advises that all the mosques now under the occupation of Hindus and Sikhs must be returned to Muslims despite the fact that temples and Gurdwaras in Pakistan are now occupied by Muslims.

9. Letter dated Sept 1953

Nehru was worried about a small number of Muslims in govt jobs or otherwise and he further wrote that they shall be included in the govt jobs so that like majority Hindus they also get their share of benefits from govt.!!!

10. in the same letter Nehru further writes that:

We shall give up on the notion of "HINDI AS NATIONAL LANGUAGE"!! Nehru cited the example of the Europe and wrote that like Europe we shall embrace multi language model at national level. Nehru further added that we shall mainstream Urdu/ Persian since it has been in use for long time in Indian society. Most of the Muslim candidates fail in govt service exam because of Hindi as one of the compulsory subjects and Muslims would be finding it really difficult to master the level of Hindi language expected from the candidates in govt service exams!!!

11. Letter dated December 1953

Nehru writes that all the Muslims who want to go to Pakistan shall be given proper rights to dispose off their properties just like rights given to Immigrants/ refugees in the US and Europe. But here Nehru totally forgot that how Muslims in Pakistan looted Hindus coming to India and in addition to their properties Muslims even took away earrings and rings worn by the Hindu populace, sometimes even kitchen utensils were also looted!!

12. Letter dated May 1959

In this letter Nehru literally summed up his entire secularist thesis!! Nehru writes: It must be recognized that Muslims in India cannot, in the nature of things, adopt aggressive attitudes. Individuals may do so or occasionally small groups. But conditions in India are such and their numbers are relatively so small that any attempt at aggressive action would recoil on them. It is only when they become afraid that desperation seizes them and then they may act wrongly and aggressively. This fact has to be kept in mind because without realizing this we shall fail to act correctly or take proper measures. Basically, the responsibility for communal peace rests on the majority community, that is, the Hindus.
